Dale David Dyke Jr. was born on December 9th, 1944 in Omaha, Nebraska to Dale David Dyke Sr. and Maxine Boyer Dyke. He was welcomed by his 15 year old sister Theresa and 11 year old brother Loren.
He grew up in a small town in Iowa and graduated from Essex High School in 1963. He was an all-around athlete, lettering in basketball, football, baseball and track. He also enjoyed running, which continued throughout his life.
David attended Tarkio College with a double major in Psychology and Religion. He met Gayle Eide there during his senior year and they got engaged after graduation. Next David decided to pursue a Master's degree in Divinity at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. After his first year, he and Gayle were married on June 8th, 1968 in Redfield, Iowa (on the hottest day of the century, with no air conditioning).
They had four children: Joel, Bethany, Susannah and Bonny. Susannah was probably the first to greet David in Heaven, as she entered that realm in 1987 at the age of ten.
David served the Lord all of his life, whether working in a church or a secular setting. His ministry was marked by joy, passion and spontaneity. He believed everyone could hear God's voice and wanted to help them find His plan for their life. David was a risk-taker and a visionary, who had a heart for youth and encouraged everyone to participate in ministry.
He was dearly loved and will be missed by many.
