After Iowa State, he attended seminary at Southern Methodist University in Dallas and completed a masters in theology in 1970.
In 1969, Dave and first wife, Jennifer Hume, married in Tyler, Texas, and welcomed a son in 1972 while living in Irving. In 1981, Dave married, Mary Ennist, and welcomed their daughter in 1983 while living in Grapevine. Dave finally married his beloved Karen on October 1, 2016, and lived out his years relaxing and enjoying travels with Karen always by his side and hand in hand.
