David Russell Jarrett, Sr.

June 26, 1930 — December 10, 2024

Burleson

David Russell Jarrett, Sr., 94, of Burleson, TX was called to his heavenly home on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. He passed from this life to his eternal life peacefully at Oxford Memory Care in N. Ft. Worth, TX.  He will always be remembered as a God-loving family man who loved the Lord, his wife, and his children deeply with his whole heart. David was an active member of Boulevard Baptist Church in Burleson, TX.

David was born on June 26, 1930, in Marshall Co., MS to Ollie and Ada Hopper Jarrett. He grew up in a hardworking family of five boys, where he learned to farm and log with mules. As a youngster, he traveled by walking and riding in horse-drawn wagons. They lived south of Potts Camp, MS, and he attended a one-room schoolhouse. David married Myra Loyce Cox on August 26, 1949. They raised 2 children – David and Delores.

David began his career at International Harvester in Memphis, TN, where he learned the trade of welding. During a sluggish economy in the 1950’s, David was blessed to find a job he loved at Woods Industries (United Transport, Mobile Auto Crushers), where he eventually retired after over thirty-seven years of employment. It was at this company where God blessed David with favor as he was recognized as a man of integrity who was energetic, forward-thinking, a change agent, and one who would take on any assignment and succeed. He loved to help people better themselves in life and did so by spending time after hours helping men improve their welding skills. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

David is survived by his loving family, which includes his children and their spouses - David and Jane Jarrett of Justin, TX, and Delores and Gary Taylor of Wylie, TX. He will be remembered and missed as GDaddy and Pawpaw by his grandchildren - Lori Sellers, Jennifer Welday, Jack Jarrett, John Jarrett, Krisinda Lingenfelter, Charity Funk, and Sam Taylor, as well as seventeen great-grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Loyce; his parents, Ollie and Ada; his 4 brothers - Harvey, Aaron, Erskine, Henry, and sister - Christina. David’s family and friends will cherish his memory, and although saddened by his death, are able to rejoice that he is in heaven walking with Jesus as we celebrate a life well-lived.
