David Ray Kamin

December 11, 1952 — September 3, 2023

David Ray Kamin, 70, of Richland Hills, Texas, passed away on September 3, 2023. He was born on December 11, 1952, in Fort Worth, Texas. During high school at OD Wyatt High School, he was a football player who was recognized at the district level and the salutatorian of this graduating class in 1971. He graduated from Texas Wesleyan University (Bachelor’s) and University of North Texas (Master’s) being recognized at both schools for his high academic achievements. After teaching in Fort Worth, David taught physics and math for 35 years at Euless Trinity High School. Even though he retired in 2018, he could still be seen sporting the red and black of the Trinity Trojans. He believed that “once a Trojan, always a Trojan”, was not just a motto but something to live by. He made a lasting impact on the lives of his students and colleagues at Trinity with his commitment to service and passion for students.

David was a scientific-minded individual who never faced a math or physics problem he couldn't think his way through, and he had the unique ability to explain answers until students understood. Many have fond memories of walking by his classroom door observing students gathered to hear him explain something one more time. He loved building things, cooking for his family, and watching high school football. He will be remembered by having the best mustache, his classic suspenders, and being a man of great integrity. He was reliable, encouraging, and a constant support to his loved ones. Never one for the spotlight or attention, he selflessly gave in time, attention, and love. His proudest achievement was raising his two strong and independent children.

David is survived by his children, Matt and Taylor, his wife Kim Kamin, and his older sister Karin and her husband Larry Renfro. He was preceded in death by his younger sister Vicki, and his parents, Nadine and Ray Kamin.
