David William McCubbins, 57, of Keller, Texas passed away September 15, 2018 at home.
David William McCubbins, the son of Ray and Margaret (Durham) McCubbins, was born in Anchorage, Alaska, on December 30, 1960.
His adventurous childhood was spent exploring the Alaskan wilderness, camping, fishing and boating with his many siblings and friends.
Music was ever-present in David’s life. He had a natural talent and thoroughly enjoyed playing multiple instruments including the piano, bass guitar, clarinet, and ukulele. He also loved teaching others how to play.
David was a lifelong and active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a full-time mission to South Korea and spent many years in leadership positions. He especially loved the youth of the Church, who were drawn to his easy-going manner, sincere kindness and desire to serve.
David graduated from Brigham Young University and Thunderbird School of Global Management. He enjoyed a successful professional career working with some of the finest corporations in America.
He was diagnosed with cancer in 2014, and after courageously fighting a long hard battle, peacefully passed away surrounded by family at home in Keller, Texas on Saturday evening, September 15, 2018.
He is preceded in death by his father Ray Woodrow McCubbins, his brother Lawrence McCubbins, and his sisters Teresa Goggia and Lana McCubbins.
David is survived by his mother, Margaret, his wife of 32 years, Valerie, their daughter, Kimberlee (Forrest) Flesch, their granddaughter, Amelia, and siblings Sue (Phil) Ramstad, Robbie (Mike) McClain, Kathy (Charles) Miller, Karen (Edwin) Kumferman, Christine (Randall) Zernzach, Woodrow (Melissa), Lisa Thompson, Mary, Curtis (Lisa Mary), Aaron (Sharika Williams), James (Melanie), Andrew (Staci), Amy and a bushel of adoring nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 500 West McDonwell School Road, Colleyville, Texas 76034 on Wednesday, September 19, 2018. A public viewing will take place from 11:30-12:30pm. The memorial service will begin at 1:00pm.
Interment will be in Kenai, Alaska on September 22.
