David Ray Milks, aged 77, of Roanoke, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024. Born on June 18, 1947, in Little Rock, Arkansas, David was the beloved son of Charles Arnold (Ray) Milks and Bethel Mae Milks.
David graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1965 before embarking on a life of service, dedication, and adventure. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps, exemplifying the discipline and commitment that defined his life. David also dedicated time to public service as a member of the North Little Rock Police Force in Arkansas, where his courage and sense of justice made a lasting impact. Later, he pursued a successful career as an entrepreneur in the health insurance marketing and sales industry, building a legacy of innovation and professionalism.
David was also a devoted member of the Scottish Rite Masons and Shriners, organizations through which he made meaningful contributions to his community.
His passion for life extended into his hobbies and pursuits. He was a horse racing aficionado/handicapper extraordinaire, an avid golfer, a dedicated weightlifter, and a record-holding distance runner. A lifelong seeker of knowledge, David's curiosity and intellect inspired all who knew him.
He was married to his first wife, Glenda Milks, on December 24, 1966, and later found love again with his current wife, Janet Milks, whom he married on March 24, 2001.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George Berry, his sisters Tressa Decker and Sandra Blasingame, and his first wife, Glenda Milks.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet Milks; daughter Ashley Davis (Harold); son John David Milks (Terri); stepdaughters Leah Fry (Chris) and Lauren Pliler (Barrett); sister Patricia Carr (Charles); brother Ken Milks (Judy); his cherished grandchildren, Clint Davis (Heather), Stephanie Baird (Charlie), Jackson Milks, Gage Milks, Ella Reese Jean Milks, Bennett Pliler, Brenna Pliler, Bianca Pliler, and Savanah Fry; as well as his great-grandchildren, Owen Davis, Henry Davis, Tessa Davis, Wyatt Baird, and Logan Baird. David also leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts.
A memorial service will be held on December 15, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller, Texas, to celebrate David's remarkable life and legacy.
David's life was a testament to strength, wisdom, and love for family and friends. His enduring spirit will forever be remembered by those fortunate enough to know him. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in his honor.
