David was born September 13,1949 in Big Springs Texas to Winston and Margaret Montgomery. Winston’s profession as a land man for DeKalb Oil Co required the family to move frequently, so over his younger years Dave lived in Vernal Utah, Lubbock and Midland Texas, and finally Littleton Colorado where he graduated from high school.
In 1969 David joined the US Navy and was assigned to the destroyer USS Gurke utilizing his fire control skills in the Viet Nam war. After serving 4 years active duty in the Navy, David rejoined civilian life in Lubbock to attend Texas Tech University. He married, started his family and instituted what would be a long-standing career as a service manager for 3M, Canon, Danka and later Konika Minolta.
David is known for his love for and commitment to God, family, flag and country. When the children married, he did not have in-laws but instead brought into his fold a son and 2 daughters.
He is survived by his wife Frankie, a daughter Melodie Parker and her husband Quincy; a son Jonathon and his wife Van; a son Jason and his wife Sue; 7 grandchildren: Jasper, David, Caleb, Quincy, Merritt, Jaden and Ellis; and 2 sisters: Diane Barker and Pam Chandler.
