Db Underwood

DB Underwood, Jr 89, passed away on September 10, 2021 at Elmcroft Senior Living. He was born in Winters, Texas on February 16 1932 to David Bascum Underwood and Gracie Gladys Smith Underwood. He graduated as valedictorian from Norton High School in Norton, Texas.

He joined the Navy after graduation and served as an Aviation Electronics Tech with the MATS squadron (Military Air Transport Services). After leaving the service, he attended ACC in Abilene, Texas and graduated from Texas Tech University on 1961 with a Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Engineering.

He married Barbara Ann Stubblefield on June 1st, 1962 at Valley View Baptist Church. He was employed by Aetna Casualty and Safety until he joined IBM as a system engineer; Retiring after 25 years. He was a great woodworker. He built many furniture pieces for his wife and daughter. Anything Barbara could draw, he could build. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Barbara Underwood, daughter, Anessa Barnhill (Dwayne), grandchildren, Avery, Raygan and twins Brody and Carson; Sister Jeri Smith (Delbert); Brother and sister-in-law, Jimmie and Linda Stubblefield; And special cousin Randall Underwood; Also, precious nephews, nieces and cousins.

Committal service with Navy Honors will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery.
