Debbie Soule

October 17, 1956 — September 3, 2019

Debbie Soule, age 62, died on Tuesday, September 3, 2019, at John Peter Smith Hospital, Fort Worth, Texas, following vascular surgery.
She was born October 17, 1956 in Oakland, California. Debbie was the daughter of Dortha (Bond) and Commander Robert Marion Soule, long-time residents of Euless. She and her twin sister, Denise, were the 10th and 11th children in the family.
Debbie married Martin Andrew “Marty” Shumard December 10, 1971, in Euless, Texas. Marty joined the Air Force shortly thereafter. Their first son, Anthony, was born in Euless. Marty was later deployed to Chicksands, England, and then to Misawa, Japan, where their second son, Arthur, was born. Debbie finished her education at the University of Maryland at Misawa, Japan. She became proficient in speaking Japanese. From Japan, the family moved to Fort Meade, Maryland, where Debbie attended the Data Processing Institute, and became a computer programmer. Debbie worked for 1st State Bank operating two large IBM main frames. Following a second deployment to Japan, Debbie and Marty parted ways.
Debbie met Robert Mead on September 9, 1990, at the Caravan of Dreams, a Fort Worth concert hall at a David Arkenstone show. Their passion for music brought them very close and they quickly fell in love. They enjoyed twenty-eight and a half years as life-partners together. They were officially wed on August 9, 2017, the birthdate of her father, and the wedding anniversary of her youngest son, Arthur. The couple resided in Arlington, Texas. Five years ago, Debbie’s twin sister, Denise, purchased the property across the street, so they could be near each other.
Debbie Soule was greatly loved by all who knew her well. She had a zest for life, quick wit, and an endearing southern drawl. She will be deeply missed by family and friends.
Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Dortha (Bond) and Robert Marion Soule.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Mead; her two sons, Anthony and Arthur Shumard and daughter-in-law, Shizuka Shumard; grandchildren, Tristan and Skyla Shumard; and siblings, Gayle Eriksson, Lynne Walker, Vicki Soule, Gary Peterson, Robert Marion Soule, Jr., Dee Yeager, Ronald Soule, Dorris James, Kent Soule, Denise Soule, and Donald Rohasek.
