Deffie Jauna Holder Davis, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 Service: 11:30 a.m. Friday, May 11, at First Baptist Church Keller, 225 Keller Pkwy., Keller. Pastor Keith Sanders will officiate. Interment: 10 a.m. Friday in Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home, 137 E. Hill St., Keller. Deffie was born May 7, 1930, in Gomez, to Robert Walter and Lou Kate Holder. She was the youngest of seven children. She grew up in Meadow, where she graduated from high school as valedictorian, and was later a graduate of Draught's Business School in Lubbock. On Sept. 3, 1950, she married Sherril Don Davis at First Baptist of Meadow. Deffie and Sherril raised their four children in Seminole, Midland, Lubbock, and Arlington. Deffie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She owned and operated three independent Affiliated Food Stores with Sherril, and later worked for years at her church, First Baptist of Keller. Preceding Deffie in death were her parents; her husband, Sherril Don Davis; her brothers, Halbert, J.C. and Albert Holder; her sisters, Mary Lowrie and Jean Walden. Survivors: Her son, Richard Dean Davis and his wife, Kathleen, of Krum; her daughter, Beverly Jauna Davis Light and her husband, Dan, of Keller; her son, Sherril Don Davis Jr. of Fort Worth; her son, O. Robert Davis and his wife, Nancy, of Plano; her sister, Juanita Holder Wiggins and her husband, Jeff; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
