Delana Lynn Williby, resident of Burleson, TX, formerly of Bluefield, WV, was called to Heaven on August 2, 2024 at Huguley Hospital at the age of 69 years.
She was born Delana Lynn Hicks on December 29, 1954 in Princeston, WV. She was a lifelong soldier of The Salvation Army in Princeton, WV. Delana was a devoted and beloved mother and homemaker. She lived most of her life in Brushfork, WV until moving to Texas in 2019. Upon her passing, she was able to give the gift of being an organ donor.
She was happiest with her children and grandchildren. She loved to sing and praise the Lord and was a proud Native American. She was known to have a lovely and simple sense of humor, enjoyed Pow Wow’s as a celebration of her Native Cherokee heritage and in The Salvation Army.
She is survived by her siblings, Pastor Connie Lester and husband Buck of Rock, WV, Joy Patterson of Fort Mill, SC, Tommy Hicks and wife Maria of Princeton, WV, and Stacey Hicks and wife Kim of Princeton, WV, her children Angela and Arthur Emmerson VIII of Burleson, TX, Charles Matthew Williby of Bluefield, WV, Christina Lynn Williby of Venice FL, and Carolyn and Ryan Harkness of Bradenton, FL, as well as her 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Alice Hicks, her father Steve Hicks Sr., her brothers Steve Hicks Jr., Aubra C. “Buster” Hicks, and her daughter Monica Faye Terry.
The family will select a time in the future to celebrate her life, but others are encouraged to celebrate her life in their own way.
