Delois Ann Griffith

July 20, 1941 — July 27, 2024

Fort Worth

Delois Griffith was born in Haslet, Texas on July 20, 1941, to Mack and Ruby Sherman. She grew up in Godley, Texas. She moved to White Settlement during high school and graduated from C. F. Brewer High School in 1959. After high school, she attended Arlington State College (now the University of Texas at Arlington) for a year.

On September 30, 1966, she married Robert Griffith and they moved to Burleson, Texas in 1969 where they raised their two daughters, Nikki and Delinda. Robert and Delois became parishioners of Holy Cross Church in Burleson where Delois was a member of the altar and flower guilds. Delois also served as convention delegate to the Episcopal Diocese of Fort Worth (Anglican) and served on the Diocesan Executive Council.

Delois spent her career as a bookkeeper first at Jim Flowers bookkeeping service for doctors, later as a self-employed bookkeeper, and then at the Key School in Fort Worth. She was one of the first pioneers of remote working from home. Nikki remembers going into the office with her when Delois worked for Jim Flowers as she picked up work she took home to complete. These were the days of manual ledgers which she carried back and forth from home to the office.

Delois enjoyed sewing, canning, cooking and traveling. She had the best recipe for bread and butter pickles and loved trying out new recipes.

Delois is survived by her husband, Robert Griffith; daughter Nikki Wilson and her husband David; grandsons, Sean and Travis Wilson; granddaughter-in-law Melissa Wilson; cherished great-granddaughter, Rebecca Wilson, sister, Maxine Harrod; sister-in-law, Marianne Griffith; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, great-nephews, great-nieces and dear friends.
