Del was born in Burlington, Iowa, in May 1924. She served in the Navy as a WAVE stationed in San Francisco. There she married her husband of 44 years, John "Jack" McDonald. A longtime member of the Hurst community, she taught special education in the Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district until she retired. She thoroughly enjoyed children and spent time as a bus driver for the St. George Catholic School. In her later years, she found her passion for dance. She loved to get dressed up and dance the night away. She always had a quick wit that kept those around her on their toes but always smiling.
Del was united in marriage to Jack McDonald in 1945 until his death in 1989; they had five children. She was then wed to Richard Smith in 1994. Del and Richard were married until his passing in November 1999. Del was later wed to Ray Davis in 2000 until his death in 2011.
