Denise Ann Knapschaefer

September 7, 1954 — October 26, 2018

Denise Knapschaefer, 64, of Bedford, TX completed her earthly journey October 26, 2018. She was born in Saginaw, MI to Gene and Jeanette Hummel. She attended Saginaw Community school as well as pursued a radiation tech program.

She married Steven Knapschaefer on September 13, 1975, just 6 days after her 21st birthday. All she ever wanted was to get married to a strong faithful man and raise a family...she accomplished that goal with par excellence. Over 43 years of marriage, Steve and Denise raised three faith-filled children and have eight beautiful grandchildren. Denise was employed by American Airlines since 1988. She was an active member of St. Michaels and most recently Good Shepherd Catholic Community. She served as a Stephen Minister, Families supporting Families, Christ Renews His Parish and various other ministries over the years. Denise completed a four year biblical program at the Catholic University of Dallas. Denise had a passion for being fully present to whomever she was talking to and projected the face of Jesus to everyone she met. No one could walk away from meeting Denise and not be changed for the better. She was a gifted writer and her legacy will live on as her family works to publish some of her very best writings.

Denise leaves behind her beloved husband Steve; her son David (Rachel); her two daughters Kelly (Ryan) and Carrie (Ricky); and their amazing grandchildren Colby, Kira, Caden, Myra, Caleb, Elliana, Christopher and William. She also leaves her brothers, Gene (Carol) and Ray (Maureen) and her sister, Jan. She is also survived by her mother Jeanette of Saginaw, MI. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Gene.

A visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Community Friday at 10 am with a rosary to follow at 11:00. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am with Fr. Ronald Mohnickey, T.O.R. presiding. A Celebration of Life will be in the Parish Hall following the service until 2 pm. Memorial gifts in Denise’s memory can be made to the charity of your choice.
Arrangements are being handled by the Lucas Funeral Home, Grapevine.
