Denver Daniel "Dick" Engdahl

BEDFORD -- Denver Daniel "Dick" Engdahl, 87, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014.
Celebration of Life: 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Peace Lutheran Church, 941 W. Bedford Road in Hurst.

Dick was born in the East Sweden Community outside of Brady, Texas. He spent his youth in Brady enjoying hunting and fishing and outside activities. In school he participated in multiple sports. After high school, he attended and graduated from Texas A&M with a business undergraduate degree. His education was interrupted during World War II with a two year stint in the Navy.
He served in the South Pacific as a signalman working under Vice Admiral W.E. Blandy. After the war ended, he returned home, finished his education and joined a management internship with Montgomery Ward in Fort Worth, Texas.
Dick married and was blessed with two daughters, Libby and Martha. He retired from Montgomery Ward after 36 years of service in various managerial positions. In 1992, Dick married Marilyn. They enjoyed retirement together and traveled throughout Texas enjoying the sites. Dick's love of the outdoors encouraged his passion for gardening. Each year, Dick's green thumb produced lots of vegetables that were shared with family and friends.
Survivors: Wife, Marilyn and his two daughters; Libby and husband David Whiteley and grandsons, Aaron and Daniel and Martha and husband Edward Monaco and grandsons, Peter and Stephen and granddaughter Adrian; his step-children include Connie Hearne, Laura Marsh, Sandra and Jeff Hallmark and children.
