Diana Semones Vaughan, 70, passed away April 8, 2021 at her home. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00pm, Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Bethesda Baptist Church, with a visitation one hour prior to the service. The family will bring Diana home to Virginia to be interred with her parents. A graveside service will be held at 3:00pm, Monday, April 26, 2021, at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Wytheville, Virgina.
Diana was born December 10, 1950 in Clifton Forge, Virginia, to Melvin D. and Helen Wilson Semones. Soon after she was born, her family moved to Baltimore, Maryland and her father began working for the United Postal Service. She graduated from George Wythe High School in Wytheville, Virginia in June of 1969. After high school, Diana married James E. Vaughan, Jr. of Fries, Virginia at Wytheville Presbyterian Church. The couple was happily married for almost 52 years.
She enjoyed her life as a wife and a mother. She home-schooled her children until James joined the United States Air Force. While living in Washington, DC, Diana took a Civil Service position and worked for several different federal government agencies. She loved to sing and was active in church wherever she lived. While living in Duncanville, she kept busy working as a substitute teacher.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Helen and her sister, Marie Semones Taylor.
She is survived by her husband, James; sons, James E. Vaughan, III and Daniel D. Vaughan; daughter, Caroline Gwen Vaughan Powell; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
