Dominic Kilian Pio Short, of Keller, Texas, died peacefully in his mother’s arms, surrounded by his father and surviving siblings the morning of March 8, 2020. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas on July 13, 2011 to parents Michael and Chasity. Dominic lived an extraordinary life despite being bound by severe disability. His presence was one that drew people in, a smile ever on his face, and a dance and giggle for all his friends. His life was a testament to the goodness of the Lord, and he was a preacher of the Gospels without words, taking after his namesake St. Dominic of Caleruega. He testified to the true presence of the Holy Eucharist by becoming animated in its presence.
Dominic is survived by his father Michael, his mother Chasity, and his siblings Anthony, Jacob, Mary Grace and Kolbe, Grandparents Donald and Loretta Short, and Michael and Mary Costanza. He had numerous aunts and uncles including Michael Costanza and Ceslyn Mathis, David and Tabbatha Konen, Shaun and Stacy Short, Jody and Julie Short, Craig and Colleen Loveland, Kate Short, and Jon and Kelly Cargo. His surviving cousins include Jeff, Karolyn, Mark, Megan, Kyle, Ally, Jason, Aiden, Riley, Hannah, Daniel, Clare, Luke, Teresa, Leo, Leah, Samantha, and Madsion.
He is preceded in death by his older sibling Cullen Michael (miscarried) and great-grandparents Donald and Loretta Maguire, Donald and Ernestine Short, George and Ethel Dieck, and Matthew Costanza and Mary Rogers.
The mass of Christian burial will be held Friday, March 13, 2020 at 10:30 in the morning at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Keller, Texas followed by interment at Bourland Cemetery in Keller, Texas. Donations in Dominic’s name may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic School in Keller, Texas.
