Donald Arthur Anderson

August 17, 1928 — December 25, 2015

Donald Arthur Anderson, 87, loving husband, father and grandfather passed away Friday Dec. 25th, 2015, in Grapevine, TX. A memorial service will be held at 1:15pm Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at DFW National Cemetery. His ashes will be laid to rest alongside his beloved wife, Frances. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be sent to Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welbourn St. Dallas, TX 75219.
Donald was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Manfred, ND, to Perry and Lilly Anderson. He attended the University of North Dakota where he received a Law Degree in 1951, then joined the USAF, serving as an OSI agent in Japan during the Korean War. He returned to Minot, North Dakota, where he practiced Law and became managing partner of the Anderson Law Firm. He married his wife, Frances in 1962 and raised their family in Minot. After retirement in 1989 he and Frances moved to Texas to be close to their children and grandchildren.
Donald was a Past Master of the Star in the West Masonic Lodge #33 in Minot, ND, a 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason, and Past Potentate of Kem Shrine Temple. He was a member of the Minot Shrine Club serving as a Merrymen Clown for local events benefitting the Shriners Cripple Children’s Hospitals. He also enjoyed playing theatrical parts in the Royal Order of Jesters and in productions of The Mouse River Players.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances. Survivors: daughter, Alicia (Sammy) Hefner and husband Barry of Colleyville; son, Greg Anderson of Flower Mound, step-daughters, Remy Ryan of Carmel Valley CA, and Mary Vannett and husband Maynard of Hastings MN. Grandchildren, Grayson and Savanna Hefner, Noah and Gage Anderson, Mickey Ryan, Michael (Johanna) and Valerie Vannett and their families. Six Siblings, Margaret (Ted) Thorson, Peter (Rose) Anderson, Verna Bowers, Ruth (Reiner) Widiger, LoAnn (Wayne) Dybing and Orren (Karen) Anderson and many nieces and nephews.
