Donald "Don" Austin Florence Sr.

GRAPEVINE- Donald Austin Florence, Sr., 74, son of the late Eathel and Florence Florence, passed away early Monday, April 30, 2018.

MEMORIAL SERVICE- Thursday, May 3, 2018 at ;3 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Grapevine, 1002 Park Blvd., Grapevine. The family will receive friends following the service.

MEMORIALS- Gifts may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Grapevine Memorial Fund.

Don was a multi-sport athlete at Grapevine High School and received a football scholarship to Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration and began a decades-long career with Southwestern Bell Telephone and AT&T.

Don served as an elder at First Presbyterian Church of Grapevine and as a member of the planning and zoning and golf advisory boards in Grapevine. He also served as a campaign manager for several local political campaigns. Don’s passions were his family and golf. He also enjoyed reading and watching his grandchildren’s activities.

Don was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Julie Florence.

SURVIVORS: Children: Jenny Moore and husband, Paul, of Grapevine; Becky Smith and husband, Ryan, of Franktown, CO.; Donald Austin Florence, Jr., of Grapevine; William Clinton Florence and wife, Gina, of Leander, TX; grandchildren: Abby and Jake Moore; Ben, Nathan and Samuel Smith; Austin and Hannah Florence; and Emery and Julianne Florence; brother David Florence, and wife Darlene, of Grapevine, as well as other family and friends .
