Donald Allen Payne

Donald Payne, 87, passed away, December 6, 2014. He loved the Lord and was a man of deep faith.

Donald was born in Mercedes, Texas and lived in the Rio Grande Valley until he served in the Korean War. He was in the 140th Tank Battalion in the army. He met his future wife Betty when he returned from the war. They were married a year later in 1954. They spent their first year of marriage in Corpus Christi while Donald worked at Celenese Corporation. They moved to Austin in 1955 for Donald to attend The University of Texas. He received a business degree in 1958 and graduated with honors. They moved to Ft. Worth the same year and Donald went to work for the FAA where he worked until he retired in 1990. After his retirement, Donald and Betty enjoyed traveling and participated in multiple medical mission trips in Central and South America. He passed away peacefully in his sleep the evening of December 6, 2014.

Graveside service: 9:30am, Tuesday at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Survivors: wife, Betty; son, Allen and his wife Lida; daughter Linda Stowe and her husband Gary; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild.
