Our dear mother, Donna Lu Bingham Williamson, passed from this life on July 8, 2022 in
Bedford TX at the age of 93. Donna was born in Lehi, Utah on December 8, 1928 to Lavon
Webster and Lucille McClellan Bingham. When she was 3 years old, Donna’s family moved to
Union, Oregon. She graduated from Union High School in 1947 as the class valedictorian.
During her senior year in high school, she used her considerable musical talents to direct the
high school band when the director left.
It was while directing a band performance that a young Robert Keith “Bob” Williamson first
saw Donna and said to his friend, “I am going to marry that girl.” He did so on July 3, 1947.
They were sealed for time and eternity in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints on December 17, 1964. The marriage that was not supposed to last 6 weeks,
according to some, lasted 66 years and produced 5 children.
Donna is survived by her daughter, LeeAnn (David) Buell of South Ogden UT, and sons, Robert
Lynn (Linda) Williamson of Cumby TX and Ronald Vance (Debby) Williamson of Bedford TX;
daughters-in-law, Becky Sue Waddle of Cumby TX and Diane Williamson of Wellsville UT; 27
grandchildren, 91 great grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren with another expected
soon; her sister, Lavon Hall, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Keith Williamson, and sons,
Michael Ray Williamson, and Von B Williamson; 2 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and her
sister, Anna Lee Blacker.
She had a truly unique gift which enabled her to unconditionally love each new member of the
family, whether through birth, marriage, or adoption, and without regard for the choices they
made, and counted them all as her own. She loved to tell anyone and everyone about her
large family and the “mess” she and Bob began in 1947.
In addition to being an exemplary and loving wife and mother, Donna helped Bob support their
family as a bookkeeper and office manager. She had a testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ,
and was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she
served in many responsible positions. Of special note, she directed the ward (congregation)
choir for 25 years and, along with her husband, fulfilled a year-long service mission for the
church at the Ft. Worth Texas Facilities Management offices in 2004-2005. Her creative talents,
which she freely shared, included creating ceramic figures, needlepoint, knitting, and counted
cross stitch. Each family received a beautiful hand-knit baby blanket that wrapped each new
baby on their blessing day. Our family Christmas trees each year are resplendent with crossstitched ornaments Donna created for each child, grandchild, and their spouses. As the family
grew, so did the ornaments she made until she was making in excess of 160 ornaments each
year, after she decided spouses only needed one per couple. Her mincemeat and pumpkin
pies and German Chocolate cakes are legendary, as was her daily habit of drinking Dr. Pepper.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 28, 2022 at the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, 4401 N.E. Loop 820, N. Richland Hills, TX. Interment will be at the Dallas-Ft.
Worth National Cemetery. There will be a viewing and visitation prior to the service on
Wednesday evening, July 27, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct
Line Road, Hurst TX.
