Donna Loyce Tate, 87, passed away February 18, 2021 at her home, in Burleson, Texas. A memorial service will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene at 127 SW Thomas St., Burleson, Texas 9am, Thursday February 25th. A visitation will be held at Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home at 518 SW Johnson Ave. Burleson, Texas 76028 at 5pm. The family will be greeting friends and relatives at 5-7pm, February 24th. Burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery next to the Pioneer school where mom and dad met. Donna has finally graduated. Donna will be laid to rest next to her two babies.
Donna was born July 24th, 1933 in Ninnekah, Oklahoma to Avery Ed and Grace Eva (Crew) Jobe, who affectionately called her “Doh-Nee.” She moved from Ninnekah, Oklahoma to Pioneer (West of Chickasha) to attended Pioneer High School until 1950. She left high school early to begin her lifelong career of spoiling our father. Donna married Albert Gerald in 1950 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. They were happily married for 70 years. Donna and Gerald moved from Pioneer, Oklahoma to Fort Worth, Texas in 1955, where they lived until 1969 when they moved to Burleson, Texas. Donna worked as the bookkeeper for her husband Gerald’s construction business which allowed her to be a stay-at-home mom until 1990. She then worked for Helping Hands, a house keeping service until 2005, moving through the ranks to become an area manager, she was dearly loved by her staff and customers. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, which was a very important part of her life. She dearly loved her church, her pastor, and her many friends at the church.
She enjoyed cooking for her family and both sewing and shopping for beautiful clothes. Donna loved dressing up for church. Mother enjoyed talking on the phone, staying active by walking, and later water aerobics with Reatha Davis.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Avery Ed and Grace Eva Jobe; brothers, Bill Jobe and Carol Jobe; daughter, Barbara Jean Tate; son, Timothy Chris Tate; and great-grandson Brody Tate.
Donna is survived by her husband, Albert Gerald of Burleson, Texas; four sons, Gerald Dwayne Tate and wife, Sonja, Mark Allen Tate and wife, Melissa, James Avery Tate and wife, Karla, and Douglas Wayne Tate; grandchildren, Holly Johnson and husband, Kurt, Katie McCullock and husband, Josh, Brittany Tate and Phillip Craig, Justin Tate and wife, Emily, Alexis Tate, Avery Fluitt and husband, Shayde, and Addison Tate; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
