Doris Lee Alexander (Spearman) passed to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 12th in her hometown of Grapevine, TX. She was 89 years young.
Doris is survived by her twin sister, Dottie Rust of Euless, TX and brother Jim of Norman, OK; and by her 3 children; Kyle (Cindy) of Stevens Point, WI, Kim (Dale) Nolan of Trophy Club, TX and Kirk of Grapevine,TX. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren: Andrew (Kristin) of DePere, WI, Paul (Kellie) of Suamico, WI, Katharine of Aurora, IL, Emily (Derrick) Brandenburg of Tulsa, OK, Keith (Emily) of Roanoke, TX and Abigail of Denton, TX; 2 step-grandsons; Nathan of Stevens Point, WI and Nicholas (Jenny) of Minneapolis, MN. Doris was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren ... Reed, Avery, Norah, Emery, Ben, Everly, Svea and Isla.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, William Benton Alexander and 3 of her siblings, Muriel, Betty and Bill.
Doris was born on March 6th, 1928 in Ardmore, OK to William Ford and Sidney Viola Spearman. She graduated from Texas State College for Women (now Texas Women’s University) in Denton, TX, with a degree in Education. She married Benton Alexander on June 26th, 1950. They lived in Grapevine and she taught school until 1960 when they moved to Stevens Point, WI as part of Benton’s job. They later moved to Chester, NJ for 2 years and back to Stevens Point until 1984 when they made their final move back to Grapevine. She taught school at every stop along the way ...Texas, Wisconsin and New Jersey. Benton died in 1990 and Doris continued an active life with her family and her church until her passing.
A funeral is scheduled for Saturday, September 16th at the Church of the Cross in Grapevine, TX where Pastor JR Vassar will officiate the ceremony. All Doris’ friends are welcome to attend and celebrate her life.
