Doris Eloise Mann Walters Baird went to be with the Lord Friday, July 8, 2022 at the age of 83. Services will be held at First Baptist Church Burleson at 11:00am, Saturday, July 16, 2022. The visitation will be from 5:00pm until 7:00pm on Friday, July 15 at Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home, 518 SW Johnson Ave, in Burleson.
Doris was born July 22, 1939 in Fort Worth, Texas to Una Mae Mann and Virgil George Mann. She was the youngest of two daughters. She graduated from Poly High School in 1956 and soon after, married Charles (Chuck) Edward Walters on July 28, 1956, and together they had two sons, Charles (Charlie) Edward Walters, Jr. and Don Leslie Walters. Preceding her in death were Chuck, who died in 1973 in a boating accident and Charlie who died three years later.
In January of 1984, she married Bill Baird, and they soon began attending First Baptist Burleson. They became involved in the single adult class, teaching and ministering to adult singles from all backgrounds. Her love for God and His precious word was evident. She became known as the family prayer warrior. She took this task seriously and truly believed in the power of prayer. She never missed an opportunity to pray with someone in need of it. He preceded her in death December 12, 2018 after 34 years of marriage.
She will be missed by so many. Her son, Don Walter; step-daughter, Toni Baird Borras and husband, Dennis; grandchildren, Diane McCullough and husband, Joshua and their four children; Christina Alvarado and husband, JC and their two children; Kyle Casey and wife, April, Lindsay Matherne and husband, Myles, and Caitlin Freeman and husband, Trever and their son; sister, Virgie Bechtel and her children and grandchildren; and many friends!
