Dorothy Clowdus

d. February 4, 2022

Dorothy Clowdus was born on her family’s farm between Alvarado and Burleson on November 3, 1928, to Otis Charlie and Lillian Parlee Russell Key. She passed away peacefully at the age of 93 in Sachse, Texas, on February 4, 2022. She graduated from Burleson High School in 1945 and married Norman Lorell Clowdus on April 2, 1948. They were happily married for 42 years and raised five children.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, her brothers Gene, Jack, Earl, Charlie Bob, and Rex Key, and one grandson, Matthew Clowdus. She is survived by one brother, Roy Lee Key of Burleson and one sister, Betty Fincher of Benbrook. Also surviving her are her children: one daughter, Cathy McDade, Sachse, and four sons, Randy (Patricia), Southlake; Keith (Carol), Mesquite; Steve (Leslie), Valley View; and Terry (Chris), Duncanville. She is survived by 13 grandchildren: Tracy Watson, Daniel McDade, Tiffany Fontana, Shera Errico, Krystal Blair, and Ashley, Bryan, Drayton, Hannah, Luke, Alyssa, TJ, and Emeli Clowdus. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Dorothy was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother. She lived almost her entire life near where she was born. Her life always revolved around her family, and she loved and served each of us with passion, joy, and a generous spirit. She loved sewing, cooking, quilting, gardening, and especially in her later years going camping with her grandchildren and taking genealogy related trips. She was a longtime member of Bethesda Baptist Church.

Due to declining health a few years ago, she left her home at Burleson and moved to live with her daughter. This last year was an especially difficult one for her, but we are comforted now in the knowledge that she is at last in the presence of her Lord and Savior, surrounded by loved ones who have gone before. The family is grateful for the excellent and compassionate care provided in the last three months by the caregivers at Oxford Glen Memory Care in Sachse.

In lieu of flowers, you may donate to Bethesda Baptist Church in her memory.
