Dorothy Bertha Hall

November 23, 1933 — June 23, 2024

Dorothy Bertha (Nevares) Hall was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She left this world surrounded by family on June 23, 2024, after a sudden decline in health at the age of 90.

She was born to Frank Wendolyn Nevares and Bertha Catherine (Pauly) Nevares on November 23, 1933, in San Francisco, CA. Dorothy spent her early life raising her children, then began a career primarily as a bookkeeper.

As a military wife, she traveled frequently which gave her the opportunity to meet several notable celebrities including John Wayne, Kirk Douglas, Henry Fonda, Jerry Lewis, Don Ho, and the Everly Brothers.

In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, where she served as the Youth League Director and Secretary of multiple bowling leagues for many years. She also enjoyed cheering for “her” Dallas Cowboys and making sure everyone was watching the game. She also enjoyed square dancing as part of the “Levi’s and Lace” dance group. In her later years she developed a love for sewing, crocheting, knitting, and quilting.

Dorothy retired in 2000 and moved to Loving, TX where she and her husband, Joe, experienced life on the farm. She loved their miniature horses, cats, and goats. The couple relocated to North Richland Hills, TX in 2007.

She was fiercely independent and lived alone until May of 2024. The family is incredibly grateful for the care she received at the hospital, nursing home and hospice home during her decline in health. Dorothy was deeply loved and will be missed.

Preceded in death by husbands, Earl W. McDermid, Clyde E. Mollins Jr., and Joe E. Hall; and brothers, Alvin Gerbi, and Frank Nevares Jr.

Survived by children, Michael W. McDermid, and wife DiAnn, Diane Herrman, and husband Richard, and Clyde E.
