Dorothy Martin Lipscomb

July 27, 1925 — August 17, 2021

Dorothy Eva Martin Lipscomb was 96 years of age when she passed away in Dallas, Texas on August 17, 2021. She was born July 27, 1925, in Alden Bridge, Louisiana to John William Martin and Lilla Mae Walker Martin. She was the youngest and last surviving of 9 sisters.

She married Robert S. Lipscomb, II of Grapevine, Texas on January 4, 1948 in Shreveport, Louisiana. They moved later that year to Wichita Falls, Texas, where they made their home until Dad passed away in September 2011. They were married for 63 years.

Together, they raised 2 sons. She actively worked with Dad to build several businesses in Wichita Falls - a stereo FM radio station, an independent oil production company, and a Muzak franchise, among others. She started college as an adult, earning a bachelor degree in education at Midwestern State University, and taught in middle school in WFISD. She served as a member of Women of Rotary. Throughout her life, she was extremely active in her church, and spoke almost daily of her abiding faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior.

After Dad's passing, Mom remained in Wichita Falls, living independently at Rolling Meadows for another 8 years, until she moved to the Dallas area to be closer to her family in 2019.

She dearly loved and cared for her family and prayed for all of us every day. She leaves behind two sons and daughters-in-law, Rob and Sheryl and their children - Katie Lipscomb, and Kevin Lipscomb and wife Tess; Steve and Shelley and their children - Lauren Inman and husband Alex and their children Will, Walker, and Olivia; Stephen Lipscomb and wife Caroline and their children Louise and Clara; Holly Montero and husband Brijon and their children Maddox and Grey; and many nieces and nephews.

In memory and honor of our Mom please consider gifts to the Sonshine House, c/o Faith Village Church of Christ, 4100 McNiel Avenue, Wichita Falls, Texas 76308.
