Dorothy Lorene Sponsler, 76, of Burleson passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Friday at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home. Interment: 3 p.m. Friday at Prairie Point Cemetery in Kerens, TX. Visitation: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home.
Dorothy Lorene Brown Sponsler was born in Corsicana, TX on September 10, 1943 to William A. Brown and Evelyn Hazel Harrison. She grew up in Coriscana with her many aunts, uncles and cousins. She moved to Fort Worth with her family as a teenager. She graduated from CF Brewer High School in White Settlement where she met Roy Dean Sponsler. Roy and Dorothy married on September 16, 1961 in the First Church of the Nazarene.
Dorothy and Roy joined the LDS Church in 1968 and were sealed in the Mesa temple in 1969. Dorothy was very active in church activities as a teacher for Primary and Relief Society, as Relief Society President and Primary Resident in Fort Worth. The Sponslers moved to Burleson in 1978 where they resided until her death on December 11, 2019.
She was sweet and funny. She loved her family and loved to be with them and felt blessed to be able to see her great-=grandchildren. Family meals, being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was something she loved to do. She also loved to cook, especially baking. She loved to sew, crochet and embroider. Reading was also her passion and at least one book was always with her. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Brown and Evelyn Harrison and husband, Elmer and daughter, Dorothy Sponsler.
Survivors: Husband of 58 years, Roy Dean Sponsler, Sr.; daughter, Dawn Schultz and husband, Gary; son, Roy Dean Sponsler, Jr. and wife, Teresa; grandchildren, Erica Schultz and husband, Derek Wattles, Roy Dean Sponsler III and wife, Brailey, Britney Sponsler, Alaena Schultz, Brandon Sponsler and fiancé, Cerise; great-grandchildren, Cyrus Hood, Sylvester Trace Hemp, Leeloo Schultz, Hart Schultz, Roy Dean Sponsler IV; step-mother, Betty Joan Warner and numerous siblings.
