Dwight Clifton Reel

Dwight Clifton Reel, fondly known as "Ike" and "Doc," 81, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, after a long ongoing battle with lymphoma.

Service: 7 p.m. Monday at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine. Visitation: The family will greet guests two hours prior to the service on Monday. Family interment will be at a later date in Yutan, Neb.

Memorials: Donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society at lls.org or to a charity of your choice.

Ike was born Nov. 2, 1934, in Missouri Valley, Iowa, to Gladys and Fletcher Reel. He was the loving husband of Margaret "Maggie" Reel for almost 62 years. Ike and Maggie raised a family of three boys, and after many moves early in their marriage, settled in the Dallas-Fort Worth area where they have resided for the last 40 years. They also enjoyed many summers in their New Hampshire home.

Ike was a pilot in the Army, and then went on to a 30-year career as a pilot for American Airlines. He was also an avid golfer. He had many long-lasting friendships in both the flying and golfing communities.

Ike was preceded in death by his grandson, Dwight "Doc" Reel II; and brother, Bob Reel.

Survivors: Ike is survived by his wife, Margaret; sons, Jim and wife, Marlene, Dan and wife, Shelly, and Craig and wife, Aundrea; along with grandchildren, Aubrey and husband, Sascha, Megan, Rebecca, Dan and Andrew; and great-grandsons, Doc and Wylie.
