It is with great sadness that the family of SGT Dylan Robert Deisley make public the news of his passing, at the age of 23, on Friday, June 2nd, 2023 in Clarksville Tennessee.
Dylan was born on December 28th, 1999, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates to loving parents Lisa and Scott Deisley and big sister Tyler. He got his first passport as an infant, and he used it vigorously throughout his life. At age one Dylan and the family returned home to the United States and he later attended elementary school in Vernon, New Jersey. It was there that he started snowboarding, a sport that he enjoyed most recently in Colorado in January.
When he was eight years old, the family returned to Dubai once again. Dylan attended the Dubai
American Academy during this time. While there this time, Dylan continued his love for snowboarding, this time at Ski Dubai, an indoor ski facility in the desert landscape. He also learned to skateboard and wakeboard and scuba dive during his time there.
After three years, Dylan returned to the US, this time in Keller, Texas where he attended school in the Keller School district, graduating from Central High School. Dylan met with many successes during his time there. He was named to the National Honor Society, he played football and ran track, and he became a favorite of many of his teachers.
After high school, two years of university and the social agony of the covid lockdown, Dylan made the decision to join the US Army. He entered as a Private First Class with the intention to work on Apache Helicopters. After basic training Dylan attended his AIT, where he excelled, being chosen to continue with his goal. Later he asked for and was granted approval to transfer and train with the 160th, the Nightstalkers, supporting the 101st Airborne. It was there that he was promoted to Crew Chief and most recently to Sergeant.
Dylan loved to travel. Over the course of his short life, he visited 20 countries on four continents
including the UAE, the US, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas, England, Bulgaria, France, Cyprus, Italy,
Vatican City, Germany, Austria, Spain, Oman, Lebanon, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka & Tanzania. His dive logbook looked similar with over 100 dives logged on four continents and a Master Diver Certification.
He loved to work on his vehicles. He owned a pick-up truck, a motorcycle, and a project car, for which he was rebuilding a motor to replace the existing one. He was the kind of guy that changed his own oil. He loved to tinker. This love is what brought him to work on $13m Apaches and later the $8m “little birds.” His good spirit about his work endeared him to his friends and made them want to come to work every day.
Dylan loved his family, spending time with them as often as he could. He would often travel great
distances to see his father and stepmother and made frequent trips home to visit with his mother, sister and stepfather. He stayed in touch with calls and texts about how much he appreciated the life he led and his love for everyone.
He was proud of what he was doing with his life. He knew it was important. He knew that he was doing well. He was leaning into life with all he had, and he was proud of himself. His family, and friends from all over the world are all very proud of him too. Our nation has lost one of its finest sons. He will be greatly missed.
Dylan is preceded in death by his grandfather Dennis Deisley.
Dylan is survived by his loving and devoted parents, Lisa & Jamie Ruddick and Scott Deisley & Sue Johnson; his sister, Tyler Deisley; his brother, Ethan Deisley; his girlfriend, Kaylee Malone; a heartbroken extended family; and many military and civilian friends.

The memorial will be followed by military honors. The family welcomes guests to stay afterward for a time of reception, reflection and fellowship.
