E.D. Mabe, Jr. was born in Fort Worth, Tx to Emory Dean and Agnes Stanley Mabe, both deceased.
In his youth he played guitar and sang Hank Williams’ songs. He joined the Army as a teenager and rose to the rank of M/Sgt. During his 22 years he had tours in Europe, Vietnam, and the U.S..Heidelberg, Germany was his favorite city where he attended classes and also taught at the University of Heidelberg. He was one of the first four Army personnel selected to set up the U.S. element of SHAPE Headquarters in Paris, France for President Dwight D. Eisenhower. After retiring from the Army, he worked 22 years at Lennox Heating and Air Conditioning Manufacturing Plant as Personnel Manager and Director of Industrial Relations.
He and Patricia traveled extensively in Europe, the Middle East, and the Caribbean. He loved his family, his music, fishing, raising livestock, and the outdoors. He loved cooking and his gourmet meals were enjoyed by all his family and friends. Many thanks to his longtime caregivers Latoya, Aronica, Maureen, and Specioza.
E.D. is survived by wife of 60 years, Patricia Mabe; children Patrick Mabe, Mark Mabe and Terri (deceased), Irene Huffman and Justin, John Moore and Anabel, Larry Moore (deceased); Grandchildren Ashley Mabe, Greg Southard and Stephanie, Chris Mabe and Tracy, Matt Mabe, Danny Mabe, Kasey Patterson and Cutter, Ryan and Stacy Moore; and 7 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, October 3rd from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home Chapel in Burleson, Texas. Services will be held on Tuesday, October 4th at Noon at Lucas and Blessing Funeral Home with burial to follow at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
