On June 21, 2023, Edna Faye Jennings, known to family as Grandma or Grandma Faye, passed away peacefully in hospice care in Ft. Worth, Texas. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 10, 2023, at Moore Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 1219 N. Davis Dr, Arlington, Texas 76012.
Faye was born September 8, 1929, in Deport, Texas, to Silas and Rozell Morgan. She graduated from Bogata Senior High School in Bogata, Texas, in 1946 at the age of seventeen.
After graduation, Faye worked at the drugstore soda shop in Bogata and later at the JC Penney Department Store in Paris, Texas. An aunt, who hoped to give her a better life, moved her to Dallas, where she found work as a secretary. Years later while working at the American Express Company in downtown Dallas, she would meet her future husband, Dick Jennings. She also worked many years for the Texas Medical Board until it was relocated from Ft. Worth to Austin. Faye retired early from the Hurst office of the Texas Department of Public Safety so she could spend more time with Dick, whose health was declining. She was a valued member of the Criminal Investigations Division there and loved working with her Captains and the Texas Rangers.
Faye was a devoted only child who lovingly cared for her parents throughout her life; she was also a devoted wife. Faye married Dick Jennings on July 26, 1963, and became stepmom to his three children, the youngest of whom was only nine at the time. The shy, reserved secretary and the lovable, funny traveling salesman came to balance each other's personalities and were married for 29 years until his death in 1992. Ten years later she would meet the son she had given up for adoption, an event and relationship that brought her great joy.
Faye was a hardworking woman who was also a great cook and an impeccable housekeeper. She enjoyed spending time with family, friends and neighbors and listening to gospel music and sermons on TV and radio. She was a longtime member of Birdville Baptist Church in Haltom City, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Silas and Rozell Morgan; husband Dick Jennings, Sr., stepsons Dick Jennings, Jr. and Danny Jennings and son-in-law
