Lesley was born to Reverend Edwin Lesley Stubbs and his wife Bettie Della (Smith) on June 13, 1924, in San Angelo, Texas. He went home to be with Jesus on July 26, 2021, at age 97.
He is a graduate of Texas Wesleyan College (B.Mu.) and North Texas State University (M.M). He did graduate study at the University of Southern California.
He joined the teaching staff of (what is now known as) Southwestern Assemblies of God University (SAGU) in Waxahachie, Texas. Later he was tapped to join Dr. Klaude Kendrick and Dr. Richard Strahan as Founders
of Evangel College in Springfield, Missouri, now known as Evangel University.
Lesley was an accomplished choral director, composer, vocalist, organist and pianist.
Lesley married the love of his life, Leatrice Lujean Thomas, in 1949. She preceded him in death in 2014. They had no children. He is survived by a sister, Betty King; two nephews, Robert (Bob) King, Jr. and Gary King; a niece, Cindy Hall; four great nephews, two great nieces, six great, great nephews, and four great, great nieces.
The graveside service will be held at the Garden of the Last Supper, Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Rev. Bob Massey officiating.
