Elbert Roy “Jes” Jester, 87 years old, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on January 25, 2024. Jes was born in Galveston, Texas on December 8, 1936 to Roy and Opal Jester.
He was proud of being “born on the island” and vacationed there frequently throughout the years. Jes graduated from Ball High School in 1955 and joined the United States Air Force in 1957. After completing his training at Lackland Air Force Base, he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska and then Japan.
Upon returning from the service, he lived in Fort Worth where he met his true love, Madeline “Kay” Adams. They were married in 1960. He attended Arlington State College (UT Arlington) and graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Engineering. He and Kay moved to Euless in 1961 where they raised their two daughters, Laura and Melinda. Jes had a long career as an engineer working at Dominy, Superior and Thermodyne.
Jes and Kay were active in the First Baptist Church of Euless where they worked with the youth and Jes was a deacon. He lived a life of service to the Lord, serving on many committees and teaching classes at the church. He spent lots of time outdoors and was a fisherman. He enjoyed football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. He loved vacations and road trips with his family. He embraced his Cajun heritage and loved making and eating gumbo, boudin and jambalaya. He was a devoted husband and father and will be deeply missed.
Jes was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Roy Jester, and his brother, Harley Jester.
He leaves behind his wife of 63 years, Kay; daughters, Laura Brannan and husband, Rick and Melinda DuBois and husband, Parry; grandchildren, Tricia Garcia and husband, Michael, Jennifer Huff and husband, Sam, Eric Greuner and wife, Kasey, Julie Eyster and husband, A.J.; great-grandchildren, Colt and Aurora Eyster and Ada Greuner and many nieces and nephews.
