Eleanor Rumsch Damschroeder, 94, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went to be with the Lord in Heaven on December 11, 2017. She was born April 19, 1923 in Lewisville, Minnesota to Rev. William and Meta Grunklee Rumsh. She was baptized and confirmed by her father at Zion Lutheran Church in Lewisville.
Eleanor met Bob, the love of her life, in Abilene, Texas at her brother's wedding. She moved to San Diego and they were married on June 20, 1943 by Bob's father at Grace Lutheran Church. They were blessed with over 73 years together until his death on January 1, 2017. They lived in Chula Vista, California where they raised three children. They moved to Sun City West, Arizona after Bob's retirement, and later moved to Texas in 2011.
Eleanor was a loving and caring wife and mother. Her life revolved around church and family. She loved music and served as organist at Zion Lutheran Church beginning at the age of 14. She directed children's choir, taught Sunday School, and sang in the choir for many years at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Chula Vista, California and Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Sun City, Arizona. She loved to travel and entertain and will be remembered for her hospitality and wonderful Christmas parties. Above all, Christ was the center of her life. She was a prayer warrior and loved to share the story of Jesus with others.
Eleanor is loved and will be greatly missed by her daughter, Nancy Burton and husband Bing; son, Robert Damschroeder and wife Melanie Findling; daughter, Ann Littlehale and husband Leonard; grandchildren, Laura Littlehale, Sarah Littlehale, Will Damschroeder, Abby Damschroeder, Robert Burton and wife Rebecca, Becky and Nicky Simon-Burton, Brian Burton and wife Kimberly; great grandchildren, Harper and Blake Burton and Jeffrey and Lucy Simon-Burton; sister-in-law, Jody Rumsch and Janet Rumsch and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eleanor Damschroeder was a faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ throughout her life. She served God with a cheerful and willing spirit. She was attentive to our Lord's Word and sacrament, continually seeking greater commitment to her Savior.
A Memorial Service will be held January 8, 2018 at 10:30 am at Peace Lutheran Church, 941 Bedford-Euless Road, Hurst, Texas.
