Eleanor "Ellie" Elizabeth Harris

February 2, 1933 — July 9, 2016

Surrounded by her loving family, Eleanor “Ellie” Elizabeth Harris passed peacefully from this world
into eternal life with our Heavenly Father on July 9, 2016.

Ellie, “Miss Ellie,” Mom & Nana was born on February 2, 1933 in Anderson, South Carolina to Inez &Jack Moore. An Anderson girl, she was a 1952 graduate of Hanna High School. She attended Erskine College in Due West S.C. where she studied vocal performance while developing her talent for opera.

Ellie met the love of her life, Lawrence “Lin” Harris, when his family moved in across from them on
North St. They married on August 13, 1955, and were blessed with a daughter and son by 1960. Lin was in the military, and they traveled the country to wherever the Navy sent them for 15 years. During that time, Ellie was often a member of the Newcomers Club and a substitute music teacher wherever they were based. Retiring from Navy life in 1969, they settled in Lake Charles, LA. Ellie studied and later worked as in interior designer for many years. One of her favorite endeavors was her small antique shop she operated in the Historical District of Lake Charles. She had many jobs over the years but the one she will always be remembered for was that of a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, greatgrandmother and friend. After decades in Lake Charles, they headed back home to South Carolina where they enjoyed retirement at a quiet lake view condo. They left Anderson in 2007, when they decided to move to the Dallas/Ft Worth area to be closer to their children, where they remained the rest of their lives. Ellie’s passions were her faith, family, friends, gardening, sewing, cooking, antique restoration and using that angelic voice to sing at church and perform at many charity music events. Her laugh and her smile were infectious, she was always the picture of kindness and generosity, and everyone that knew her adored her. A true southern belle with a faith that governed her life.

She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter Andrea Forest of Watauga TX, son Cliff Harris and wife Rebecca of Flower Mound TX; three grandchildren, Anna Orr, Amy Trude (husband Sammy), and Scott Forest; four great grandchildren, Taylor Blaylock, Ben Cayson, Caroline Cayson, and Avery Trude; sisters Judy Darby and June Ellison; and many brothers and sisters in law and their families.

Ellie is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Lawrence “Lin” Harris; parents Julia Inez & W.L. Jack Moore; in-laws, Ora Leona & Lawrence E. Harris; sister Barbara Lindsey; brothers in law, Steve Darby, Bob Ellison, John Lindsey and Reginald Harris; Nephews John Lee Lindsey and Steve Ellison.

A memorial service will be held at St Stephens Episcopal Church with a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday July 23, 2016 at 3pm, led by Father Ron Drummond. St Stephens is located at 7452 Precinct Line Rd, Hurst TX 76054. Following these services, family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the home of Cliff and Rebecca Harris at 304 Landwyck Lane, Flower Mound TX 75028.
Interment will be on Friday July 29, 2016 10:15am at the DFW National Cemetery.

We find comfort in knowing that she is dancing and rejoicing at the great reunion in Heaven with our Heavenly Father, Lin and our dear loved ones that have gone before us, and know that she will be watching for us as we will one day be there too. The family would like to thank Dr. Ronald Chio, Dr. Andrew Miller and Dr. Mark Messing for their loving care over the years, and a special thanks to the entire staff of Community Hospice of Texas in Fort Worth, and Father Ron Drummond. May God Bless you all.
