Eleanor Gwen Johnigan, 61, of Fort Worth, TX, went home to be with the Lord on November 16th, 2024, after a long battle with breast cancer surrounded by loved ones at her home. She was born on February 14, 1963, in San Antonio, TX, and was raised by her parents, Jeff and Wanda Andrick with sister Gail.
Gwen was a planner at heart. She grew up in Bryan, TX, where she met the love of her life, Gregory Glen Johnigan, in 1979 on a mission trip with the youth group at First Baptist Church of Bryan, TX. Six years later, true to her plan, the two were married and eventually settled in Round Rock, TX. Gwen worked as an elementary school teacher until shifting to her most cherished role as a full-time mom after the birth of their eldest child, Peyton. Over the next six years, Gwen and Greg welcomed two more children, Corinne and Philip. The family of five moved to Fort Worth, TX, in 1999, where Gwen dedicated herself to caring selflessly for her family, organizing every detail from home-cooked meals during the week to warm, festive celebrations at each holiday.
Gwen understood that while she had her own plans, God's plan was always greater. She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Keller, TX, where she taught, mentored, and served on the church office staff. Gwen was eager to share the gospel, whether it was with her young children at home, over coffee with a neighbor, or even while sitting in a clinic receiving treatment. Her devotion to her husband, children, friends, and Savior, Jesus Christ, was steadfast and unshakeable.
Gwen was predeceased by her mother, Wanda Andrick. She is survived by her loving husband, Greg Johnigan; her children and their spouses, Peyton and Brooke Johnigan, Corinne and Drew Dillard, and Philip and Rachel Johnigan; her six beloved grandchildren, Kennedy, Graham, and Collins Johnigan, Nolan and Joseph Dillard, and Wesley Johnigan; her father and stepmother, Jeff and Debbie Andrick; her sisters, Gail Harris and Kelly Hawkins; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other cherished family members.
A celebration of Gwen's life will be held on November 20th at 1:00pm at First Baptist Church of Keller, TX. Family and friends are welcome to attend to honor and remember her. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society (see below) or First Baptist Church Keller in memory of Gwen.
