Elisa Flores Camacho, 93 of Fort Worth, passed away peacefully November 10, 2022 in her home. Elisa was born in Ranger Texas on April 27, 1929 to Simplicio and Ana Flores. She attended Ranger High School and was enrolled at Ranger Junior College from 1958-1960.
In March 1947, she married Arturo Rueles Camacho and they lived together in Ranger for most of their lives, raising a family of six children. Elisa was a bilingual educator in the Ranger ISD for 25 years before her retirement. She was an active member in her church community including involvement in the St. Rita’s Altar Society and acting as a liaison to the Church as a bilingual translator. She was also active in the community of Ranger including the Ranger Historical Society – In 1980 she received the honor of Ranger’s Woman of the Year. Together with her husband, she was active with Meals on Wheels, and the FW Chapter of the American Ex-Prisoners of War where she served as Secretary/Treasurer for two years.
Elisa and her husband moved to Fort Worth in 2006. Elisa nurtured relationships with her community and friends in Ranger and Fort Worth which formed deep bonds that still exist for her family today. Elisa enjoyed gardening and her rose bushes and was an avid buyer of QVC. She was passionate about history and her family history. She was the oral family historian. She had begun compiling family photo albums. Elisa will be remembered for her strength in supporting her family and the structure and enthusiasm for education which she passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Arturo Rueles Camacho; Daughter – Sylvia Anna Herrington; Son-in-Law – Del Pittman; Siblings – Robert Flores, Martha Velasquez, Richard Flores, and LuciaAna Cadena; Sister-in-Law, Wanda Flores; Brothers-in-Law – Jesse Cadena, Fernando Velasquez, and Dan Owen.
She is survived by her children: Daughters – Cecilia Villa and husband Arturo of Ft. Worth; Cynthia Meza and husband Mike of Lake Worth; Patricia Pittman of Hillsboro; and Martha Merrill of Ft. Worth; Son – Arturo Camacho and wife Robbie of Haltom City; Son-in Law - Ed Herrington of Phoenix; Brothers – Rosendo Flores, Edward Flores, Arturo Flores and wife Kathy; Sisters – Natividad Owen, and Carol Richardson; Sister-in-law- Denise Flores; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
A Rosary is scheduled for Tuesday evening, November 22, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. at Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home, 518 SW Johnson Avenue in Burleson. The Funeral Mass is scheduled for Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, 3601 Altamesa Blvd. with a committal service to follow at 1:15 p.m. at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas.
