Elisa Matos was born on July 2, 1960 in the lower east side of Manhattan. She was a dedicated police officer in New York City before moving to Texas with her husband, Mark Matos. In 2017, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, and she was an inspiration throughout these last seven years. Elisa and Mark raised their family in Fort Worth, Texas, where she eventually passed in their home on November 25, 2023.
Elisa spent 16 years working as a collector at Thryv located in DFW. She was dedicated to her work and continued to work throughout her illness. She loved her job and her fellow employees, and it kept her motivated throughout her courageous fight. Outside of work, she loved cheering on the New York Yankees, the Knicks and the Jets. She enjoyed reading and watching her favorite reality shows. More than anything, Elisa’s family meant the world to her. She loved spending time with her three beautiful granddaughters, and getting together for family game nights.
Elisa is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Mark Matos. She is also survived by her daughters, Lesley and Mallory and their spouses, Jared and Tyler. Her granddaughters, Emilia, Marley and Jovi were a tremendous joy to her and she was so proud to be their grandma. She is also survived by her parents, Agripina and Danilo, and her sibilings, Dennis, Jazmin and Nora.
Elisa touched the lives of many and her infectious zest for life will be missed. Although not here physically, she will be remembered in our memories and will remain in our hearts. Elisa leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter and strength. May she rest in peace, knowing the impact that she had on us all.
