It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of Elizabeth "Liz" Ann Ledesma. She was called home to Heaven on December 18, 2024 at the age of 72.
Beloved mother, sister, Tia, "Grama" and friend to many she was born in Los Angeles, CA along with her twin brother Ismael "Smiley" Aguirre on June 29, 1952 to Mary G. Calvert and Arthur V. Aguirre.
Raised in San Antonio, Texas, Liz was a graduate of Providence Catholic High School and Our Lady of The Lake University where she earned her BFA (Bachelor's of Fine Arts, or as she lovingly called it, her "Big Fat Art Degree"). Called to serve her Catholic community, she was deeply involved in youth religious education. For many years Liz taught confirmation classes, church and diocesan retreats and most recently became involved with Catechism of the Good Shepherd at her home parish, St. Francis of Assisi in Grapevine.
Even at a young age she has always been an artist. Liz studied art, worked as a freelancer, in advertising and publishing. She had an illustrious career of 25 years working at the Mary Kay corporate office where she retired as a senior art director. The people she worked with soon became her happy hour gals, world traveling buddies and lifelong friends. It was also during this time her love for art and graphic design often came together with creating countless designs for her home parish and the Ft. Worth diocese. She was a dear friend and a sister to all, always wanting to lend a hand for helping anytime.
Her proudest achievements were her two children Edie and Eddie and then her three granddaughters. She was a daily part of their lives and actively supported them in their school studies and activities. She was deeply passionate about her family always coming first. Liz enjoyed many traveling adventures over the years with her sister Esther. She will be greatly missed by her family and many nieces and nephews. Her legacy will continue through the countless laughs and stories that will be told and be in our hearts forever.
Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur V. Aguirre and Mary G. Calvert; brothers, Arthur V. Aguirre Jr. and Ismael "Smiley" Aguirre.
She is survived by her daughter, Edie Ann Rugg (married to Jake) and Edward "Eddie" Abel Ledesma-Porter (married to James); her three granddaughters, Gabrielle, Amelia, Kathryn; her sister, Mary Esther Headley; her nephew, Arthur; nieces, Nancy, Lisa, Michelle M., Michelle V., Mary Elizabeth; and many more family and friends.
