Ellen Chapman “Chappie” Stout, 77, passed away April 24 in Bedford, TX. She was born in Dallas and lived in Japan and Hawaii in her early years. She attended Sunset HS and ETSU, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees. She was a DISD special ed teacher for 25 years, mostly at Seagoville HS where she was honored as Teacher of the Year. Chappie’s many friends knew her as a unique individual with a multitude of talents: artist, folksinger, educator, horsewoman, Trivia champ – just to name a few. She was preceded in death by parents Lt. Col. Joseph and Ellen Stout and is survived by brothers Morgan (with Barbara Haefeli) and Joe (with Connie), her nieces and nephews.
Donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or the animal charity of your choice. Graveside services will be held at Laurel Land in Dallas on Thursday, May 19 at 3 p.m., followed by a gathering at a place TBD in Oak Cliff.
