Elois Rice Montemayor of Starkville, Mississippi passed away on November 6, 2020 in North Richland Hills, Texas. She was born on February 14, 1951 in Starkville, Mississippi to Robert Rice Sr. and Annie Louise Harris Rice.
Elois was sweet, wholesome, and a joy to be around. She was dutiful to her parents and was active in her community. She graduated from Henderson High school where she participated in track and field, and was a well known drum majorette in her city; a true star among her peers.
After high school Elois relocated to Illinois where she married and gave birth to her first child. She worked in the field of logistics and quality assurance for many years, as well as modeling clothing; among those were some pieces from her original “Weasie Gal” collection.
Her entrepreneurial spirit began in her childhood when she became an apprentice for a local furniture upholstery business, this helped cultivate her gift in sewing and enviably led to her becoming a notable seamstress.
She later remarried and relocated to Texas where she had 4 more children. She continued her work as a seamstress and ran an in-home daycare until she became ill; at which point she retired and worked as a school crossing guard.
Elois’ hobbies were pecan-picking, gardening, recycling, and reading. She was known as fun-loving and hardworking. She was a mother to her children, her grandchildren, her great-grandchildren, and those who knew her would say “she was everybody’s mama.” She always put her husband and children first but made sure that those she came in contact with her felt loved and taken care of too. She took the phrase, “It takes a village to raise a child” and put those words into action.
Elois is survived by her husband Rodolfo Montemayor; her son Luis Montemayor; her daughters Tijuana Perry, Destiny Montemayor, Alexandria (Montemayor) Francis, Alisandra Montemayor; her grandchildren, Christopher Perry, Jasmine Larry, Jared Hampton, Amira Francis, Sanaa Wilkerson Francis, Anisaa Montemayor, Nadia Francis; her great grandchildren, Dru Perry, Jordyn Lewis, Jaxon Lewis, Couture Perry; her siblings, Gwendolyn (Rice) Boyd, Yvette Rice, Cynthia (Rice) King, Walter Rice, Nathaniel Rice, Diane (Rice) Wright, and Brenda (Rice) Ozazwa.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Robert and Annie Louise Rice, her oldest sister Mary Rice Fitch, and her younger brother Robert Rice Jr.
The visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Lucas Funeral Home on Friday, November 13, 2020. Interment will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made through GoFund Me
