Elsie Correne Thompson

June 8, 1940 — December 28, 2022

Correne Thompson of Justin, Texas passed away on December 28, 2022 at home in
Justin. She will always be remembered as loving wife, Sis, friend, Mom, Auntie and
Momsie to all that knew and loved her. She was born on June 8, 1940 in Hobbs, New
Mexico to Ross Leon and Ollie Bell Robinson. In her early years she lived on farms and
ranches in southeast New Mexico where she learned to work long and hard. She was
married to her beloved husband Warren Cecil Thompson on June 7, 1958 in Eunice,
New Mexico at Highland Baptist Church. Together they lived in Shawnee, Oklahoma
where their daughter was born. Then moved on to Odessa, Texas where their son was
born. They also lived in Charlotte, North Carolina; Clinton, Iowa; back to Eunice then
Georgetown, Texas; Palm Coast, Florida and finally Justin, Texas.
“Faith, Family, Friends” sums up Correne’s life. She lived to serve others through
loving, caring, cooking for, advising, organizing, supporting, teaching, praying,
entertaining, etc. She was a major sports booster, fan and cheerleader. She was in
attendance for classmates, siblings, spouse, children, nieces and nephews,
grandchildren and friends for football, basketball, baseball, golf, track, soccer, weight
lifting, volleyball, cheerleading, gymnastics, karate, band, choir, plays, bowling,
academic competitions, horse riding and showing, ag competitions, debates, banquets,
graduations and weddings. She enjoyed participating in choir, plays, water skiing,
bowling, golf, card games and dominos. Correne was always active in her church as
VBS and Sunday School teacher, Hospital/Illness visitation member, leader of the meal
planning and grievance committee, prayer chain committee, starting and organizing the
senior group, Prime Timers and a sundry of other services and duties. She was an
extraordinary cook and baker, accomplished at sewing and crafts, and spent much time
reading.
She is survived by her loving husband Warren Thompson of Justin, Texas; daughter
Debbie Thompson of Justin, Texas; son Doug Thompson and wife Monika Thompson of
Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren Robynn Watson and husband Matt Watson of
Northlake, Texas, Mallory Burleson of Montgomery, Texas, Rebecca Preston and
husband Thomas Preston of Katy, Texas, Jessica Geiman and husband Josh Geiman
of Norfolk, Virginia and Cody Womack of Gainesville, Florida; great-granddaughters
Savannah Burleson and Cameron Preston; sisters Kay Patterson of Ruidoso, New
Mexico and Barbara Spencer and husband Tracy Spencer of Littlefield, Texas; and
nephews/wives Jason and Ludy Robinson, Cody and Carma Patterson, Carey and
Heather Rudd, and Chad Patterson; nieces/husband Amber Heady and Marla and
Rocky Ayatsuka numerous cousins, and 13 great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by father Ross Robinson, Sr, mother Ollie Bell Robinson,
father-in-law Doc Thompson, mother-in-law Martha Thompson and brother Ross
Robinson, Jr.
The Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday January 7,
2023 at First Baptist Church of Justin, 402 W 8th Street, Justin, Texas. Flowers and
plants may be delivered to the church on the day of the service.
