Elvera Mildred Reckling Pyatt, age 73, passed away on February 25, 2019 in Grapevine, Texas. She was born on January 15, 1946 in Dearborn, Michigan to the late Walter August Reckling and Mildred Louise Sengstock Reckling.
Vera was educated at Harper Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, Michigan and spent her entire career working in operating rooms and administrative offices. She used her medical training to take mission trips with Peace Lutheran Church to Honduras, providing medical care to people who live in impoverished areas of the country. Peace Lutheran Church was an anchor to her life in Texas, where she also started their first Adult Singles group.
Vera was a warm, loving and dedicated friend, mother and grandmother. She dedicated her life to providing for her two children and introducing them to areas that she also enjoyed, like music, art and science. She was a lifelong lover of animals and always made an effort to adopt from rescue groups, and was a big supporter of the DFW Pug Rescue.
Elvera is survived by her son, Craig E. Jenest and wife, Renee Risher of Fairfield, Connecticut; her daughter, Amy Maidment and husband, Paul of Salisbury, England; one grandson, Ryan Jenest; sister, Etta Buckhahn and husband, Charlie of Saginaw, Michigan.
A visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, March 1, 2019 at Peace Lutheran Church with funeral service to follow at 2:00 P.M.
