Ernesto Flores, Jr.

August 5, 1953 — January 20, 2025

North Richland Hills

Ernesto Flores Jr., a loving husband, father, grandfather, beloved Tio and friend, peacefully went to be with the Lord at his home in North Richland Hills, TX, surrounded by his family, on Monday, January 20th, 2025, at the age of 71.

Born on August 5th, 1953 in Laredo, TX, Ernesto was the son of Ernesto Flores Sr. and Rosa Flores (Penn). He became a father at the young age of 19, realizing his lifelong dream of becoming a dad because his own father was his hero. He worked at BASF Chemical Plant for over 36 years, retiring in 2013, and later moved to Fort Worth to be close to his beloved family.

A man of wit, humor, and a heart as big as Texas, Ernesto was known for his infectious smile and for lighting up any room he entered. His trademark humor—often repeated jokes, always bringing joy to new listeners—was a part of what made him so special. He was known for treating everyone like family, affectionately calling everyone "cuz." He exuded a calm demeanor, possessed immense patience, and always offered a willing ear to listen. His love for his family, especially when they were all together, was the cornerstone of his life.

A passionate golfer, Ernesto loved spending time on the course, often joking that he worked at Chick-fil-A to fund his golfing hobby. Whether it was watching his favorite teams, the Houston Astros and Dallas Cowboys, or falling asleep in front of a golf tournament, Ernesto was always keeping up with sports. His love for oldies, Tejano, and country music filled his home and heart. Ernesto was a self proclaimed food critic, with his love for some unique pairings such as, tamales and ketchup, tacos and mustard and even taste testing food off the pit, just to make sure it was good enough for everyone to eat.

Ernesto is survived by his devoted wife, or as he affectionately called her, his bride, Angie Flores, and children Rosa Isela, Ernesto(Cristina), Erik(Marie), Christina, Anthony, Vanessa(Michael), and Veronica(Fernando). He was a proud grandfather to Antonio(Kayla), Eduardo, Nicholas, Eva, Viviana, EJ, Benicio, Annie, Sofia, Bella, Frankie, and Mateo. He also leaves behind countless friends and extended family members who will miss him deeply.

As Ernesto himself wished, his ashes will be scattered at the 9th hole, his favorite spot on the course, the place he always said was the hardest to get out of.

Ernesto is preceded in death by, his father, Ernesto Flores Sr., his mother, Rosa Flores and his beloved son, Eduardo Flores.
