Evelyn Marie Clark

July 18, 1916 — January 17, 2014

Evelyn M. Clark, age 97, passed away on January 17, 2014 in Keller, Texas. She was born on July 8, 1916 to Frank J. and Barbara (Bedlan) Kalina south of Friend, Nebraska. She attended District #57 near Friend to the 8th grade. She was united in marriage to Lumir Chab on August 21, 1935 in Wilber, Nebraska and they made their home south of Friend. After the passing of Lumir she then married Harold Clark on July 1, 1962 at the First Congregational Church in Crete and made their home in Crete.

She was a homemaker and held numerous jobs. She worked as a waitress for several years, was employed at Fairmont Food and worked for 32 ½ years at J.C. Penny Store in Crete. After retirement she enjoyed volunteer work at the First Congregational Church, VFW Auxilary #4959, Senior Quilters, Crete Municipal Hospital and the Crete Manor.

She was a member of the United Church of Christ, First Congregational Church, Lodge Saline Center #389 and Crete Senior Citizens. She held numerous offices in the organizations she served that included, secretary general meeting at United Church of Christ, served as chaplain, flag bearer in the VFW Auxiliary, served as vice president in the Woman’s Club.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Lumir Chab and Harold Clark, son; Robert Chab, step son, Dwayne Clark, sister and brother in law, Frank and Viola Capek, 3 grandsons, Frankie Chab, Joseph Chab and Jerry Chab.

She is survived by her son, Norman G. Chab of Greenville, Texas, daughter and son in law; Eileen and Dan Oliver of Fort Worth, Texas, daughter in law, Teresa Chab of Falls City, step son and spouse, Harold D. and Jennie Clark of St. Augustine, Florida, Wayne and Marilyn Clark, grandchildren, Christopher Goodwin and Robert Forman John Chab, 5 great grandchildren, step grandchildren and strep great grandchildren, and one niece.
