Evelyn Louise Schmedt

Evelyn Louise (Arwine) Schmedt was born on September 22, 1924 in Hurst, Texas to the late Jesse (Tatum) Arwine and Homer Arwine. She passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023 in Weatherford, Texas.
Evelyn attended Northside High School in Fort Worth. She was a member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church. She was a very talented artist and her paintings are well known throughout the community.

Evelyn was always laughing and telling jokes. She wanted to brighten every situation with smiles and laughter. She always said it is better to laugh than to cry. She even stated that when she was growing up that even though her family was poor that their home was always filled with love and laughter. She was a wonderful cook and if there was a family gathering, there would sure be enough food to feed everyone, especially sweets. She would usually have her dessert before her meal. Evelyn was a loving mother to her three sons and doting grandmother to her seven grandchildren and proud great-grandmother of eleven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Schmedt; and her siblings, Kenneth Arwine, Wade Arwine, and Thelma Karns.

She is survived by her sons, Gary Schmedt and wife, Sheri of Fort Worth, Dennis Schmedt of Fort Worth, Randy Schmedt and wife, Sherry of Perrin, Texas; grandchildren, Pamela Sites and husband, Shawn, Michelle Rowe, Amanda Story and husband, Philip, Jared Brooke, Karen Scott and husband, Blake, Melissa Alvarez and husband, Oscar, and Ryan Schmedt; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Jessica, Christian, Matthew, Olivia, Cason, Colton, Corbin, Bryer, Nicholas, and Noah. Evelyn is also survived by her brother, Bob Arwine and wife, Mary Jane, and her sister, Dorothy Atkins.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 2, 2023 at Arwine Cemetery.
