Evelyn Jennie Stratmoen, 99, died Saturday, January 1, 2022, at home surrounded by family.
Visitation will be 5 p.m.-7 p.m., Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Lucas Funeral Home, 1321 Precinct Line Road. Entombment will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, January 10, at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park, 5725 Colleyville Boulevard. Memorial Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 10, at Peace Lutheran Church, 941 West Bedford Euless Road.
Evelyn Stratmoen was born January 14, 1922, to Frank and Genoa Erickson in Rosewood, Minnesota.
She was baptized in Montevideo, Minnesota on January 1, 1938. She graduated from high school in 1940.
On October 31, 1941, Evelyn married Merlin Stratmoen in Oakdale, Louisiana, while he was at Camp Claiborne preparing to be deployed to North Africa during World War II. For the next 27 years they traveled the world living in Austria, Japan, Hawaii along with numerous locations in the United States, finally residing in Hurst Texas. She was a mother and homemaker to 6 children, enjoyed playing golf and playing cards.
Survivors: Sister Elinor Thursby of San Diego. Children, Sandra Hyden and her husband Larry of Hurst, David Stratmoen and his wife Liz of San Antonio, TX., Lief Stratmoen and his wife Deborah of Moore, OK., Irene Pence and her husband David of Coupland, TX., Martin Stratmoen and his wife Gloria of Lancaster, OH., and James Stratmoen and his wife Amy of Fort Worth, TX., 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Merlin Stratmoen; sisters, Pauline Knight, Irene Flores, Mildred Wilkinson; brother, Elton Erickson; sisters, Opal Winslow, Ethel Wexler; brother, Russel Erickson, sister, Frances Erickson, and her beloved dog, Abby.
