Felisa Matias

Felisa Macabuag Matias, fondly known as “Nanay Fely”, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was surrounded by her loving family. Nanay Fely would have been 94 years old in April. She was born on April 23, 1926 in Paranaque City, Philippines to Gertrudes and Gregorio Macabuag. Nanay Fely grew up in Paranaque City, and in 1952 married Pedro “Tatay Pedring” Matias. They were happily married for 66 years until Tatay Pedring’s passing in 2018.

Nanay Fely worked at a publishing company and eventually gave up her job to focus on raising her children. In 1991, Nanay Fely and Tatay Pedring, moved to Fort Worth, Texas. Blessed with five children, 13 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren, Nanay Fely will always be remembered as a doting, caring, and ever protective mother. She will be lovingly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, extended family, and dear friends.

The visitation will be held on February 6, 2020, Thursday, from 6 to 9 PM at Lucas Funeral Home located at 1601 S. Main St. Keller, Texas. The Memorial Service will be held on February 7, 2020, Friday, from 6 to 10 PM also at Lucas Funeral Home. Cremation will follow at a later date. Her ashes will be brought to the Philippines, where she will be reunited with the remains of Tatay Pedring.
