Fernando Acosta Jr.

July 13, 1966 — November 26, 2020

Fernando “Fernie” Acosta, Jr., 54, of Burleson, Texas, passed away peacefully November 26, 2020 in Fort Worth, Texas. While Fernie deserves the biggest celebration of life, with all the limits due to COVID-19, only a visitation will be held, still allowing everyone to pay their respects. The visitation will be from 3:00pm to 6:00pm, Friday, December 4 at Lucas & Blessing Funeral Home, 518 SW Johnson Ave, in Burleson.
Fernie was born July 13, 1966 in Fort Stockton, Texas to Santa and Fernando Acosta, Sr. He attended Fort Stockton schools, and graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 1984. His oldest daughter, Anjanette, was born there. He moved to Midland in 1993, where his daughter, Alexyss, was born. There he began his career with Sonic Drive-In. After moving to Fort Worth in 2001, he continued most of his working career as a Sonic Drive-In Owner/Operator. After leaving Sonic, he held successful management positions with several corporations, most recently as General Manager at TitleMax in Dallas.
Fernie married the love of his life, Ashley Cannon, on May 18, 2007. They had two children, Alexander and Ava. One of the greatest gifts in his life came on November 20, 2013 when his God-given brother, Jeremy Hall, selflessly donated his kidney, giving Fernie some of the best years of his life with family and friends.
Some of his greatest joys were spending time with his family, taking part in Litchfield Circle gatherings, driving his beloved 1953 Chevrolet Bel Air ‘Grace’, listening to music, and attending Harlem Globetrotter and Golden State Warriors games with his son Alex. Besides the Warriors and Globetrotters, Fernie was a lifelong fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Longhorns.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fernando Acosta Sr.; dad, Adan Dominguez; and grandmother, Angelita Salinas.
Fernie is survived by wife, Ashley Acosta; daughters, Anjanette, Alexyss, and Ava Acosta; son, Alexander Acosta; granddaughter, JayLynn Acosta; mother, Santa Acosta Dominguez; sister, Annette Gonzales and husband, Robert; brothers, Troy Dominguez and wife, Tisa and Paul Dominguez and wife, Julie; nieces, Adrianna and Gabriella Gonzales; and a host of other family members and friends.
Besides being a devoted husband, father, and papa, Fernie was a wonderful son, son-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and nephew, not to mention a loyal friend. He will be deeply missed not only by his family, but by anyone who knew him.
The family would like to thank all their friends for the prayers, love and support they have provided and will continue to provide to help them make it through this unbelievably difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to causes close to Fernie’s heart: National Kidney Foundation, kidney.org or Alzheimer’s Association, alz.org
